Browse the 2003 exhibition >> During 2002 and early 2003 at least
100 primary schools nationwide undertook major 'Take
One Picture' projects. Using the Renaissance artist
Paolo Uccello's painting of 'Saint
George and the Dragon' as a stimulus, children aged
3 to 11 wrote poetry, stories and music, and made artwork
in a range of media. The exhibition included a selection
of these inventive and exciting projects. Highlights
included an animated film, a three metre-long dragon
sculpted with wire and aluminium and a transcription
of the painting using clay tiles.
The standard of the work produced was exceptionally
high and as a result twelve schools were selected to
exhibit work:
- Bangabandhu Primary School, London
- Bengeworth First School, Evesham
- Malorees Infant School, London
- Nottingham High School for Girls (Junior Department)
- Saighton C of E Primary School, Cheshire
- Capenhurst C of E Primary School
- Eccleston C of E School
- Childer Thornton Primary School
- Shorne C of E Primary School, Kent
- Southfield MLD School, Hatfield, Herts
- The Bluecoat School, Stamford, Lincs
- Whinstone Primary School, Stockton-on-Tees.
