The built and rural environments
Takeley Primary School
A Year 1 teacher at Takeley Primary
School in Hertfordshire asked her children (five- to
six-year-olds) to think about what Rubens's landscape
might look like now, nearly 350 years later. Their conversations
centred on the development of roads and people's homes,
and their impact on the environment. Pupils collected
magazine pictures of houses and sorted them by size
and the period in which they were built.
Using video camera animation software, the class then
filmed the making of their collage, which imagines how
the landscape around Rubens's house might have changed
gradually over time.
