TiarasChilds Hill School
A jewellery designer was invited to work with Key Stage
2 pupils (8-11 years) at Childs Hill School, London.
As a group they discussed the objects woven into the
Marquise de Seignelayçs tiara and how they signify that
she is dressed as the Greek goddess of the sea, Thetis.
To make their own tiaras the pupils followed the design
process of brainstorming ideas, which included thinking
about symbolic shapes. They sketched designs and notated
these with comments about colour and structure. Using
modelling wire, beads and other collected items they
produced their final pieces.
